Five European Member States (Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Poland and UK) and one Candidate Country (Bulgaria) participate at the Ethreat’s consortium with highly specialized organizations and institutes on public health issues. The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is responsible for the management and coordination of the project, and for the cooperation of the whole partnership with the European Commission (Directorate C “Public Health And Risk Assessment” “Health And Consumer Protection” Directorate General), which co-finances the project. The head and scientific-coordinator of the project is Prof. Athena Linos (MD, MPH, PhD) from Athens Medical School.

According to the project contract, during the 1 st partners’ meeting (which took place in Athens on the 24 th of June 2005) a steering committee was elected. The role of the steering committee is twofold:
- to participate in the management of the project under the coordination of the main partner,
- to implement the quality assessment of the project.
